Last night was arguably the best night for music releases in a minute. We saw the return of veteran artists as well as the introduction of rising artists in the form of debut projects. Amongst the latter was YBN Cordae.
The 21-year-old dropped The Lost Boy, his debut album and journal of self-discovery. The project consists of fifteen tracks with only a handful of features. Cordae began his album rollout when he dropped “Bad Idea (feat. Chance the Rapper)” back in June. He shortly announced The Lost Boy afterwards.
A healthy balance of beats and bars, Cordae showcases his talent as a wordsmith with a good ear by documenting times of hardship and family struggles over a variety of beats. He rightfully earned and secured his spot as a 2019 XXL Freshman and is only going up from here. Mark my words.
