Every year, XXL’s editor-in-chief Vanessa Satten hits Power 105 to talk about their infamous Freshman Class selections. Almost every year the general public seems to be disappointed with the list, and The Breakfast Club is left with the task of finding us dissatisfied fans the answers we need.

Perhaps one of the most surprising calls this year was the decision to not include Chicago rapper Famous Dex in the class. Despite his massive success over the course of the past year and being nominated for the 10th Spot, Dexter was unfortunately left out of the fun.

When pressed about the controversy, Satten replied by citing the video clip of Dex beating his girlfriend for just cause to keep him off the list. Of course, this was met with a logical argument that Freshman XXXTentacion also caught a domestic charge. In regards to this seemingly unfair treatment, Satten said “I think the thing with X is also he’s the People’s Champ and hasn’t been found guilty of anything. You kind of have to let that play out. That’s who the people wanted.”
