Berkley, California native Dante Ryan went on a year hiatus before releasing any music, but he’s coming back with an expressive and melodic work of art. His first single “Mimosa”, which features fellow Berkeley native Rexx Life Raj, exposes aesthetics and topics that are common in today’s contemporary hip-hop scene.
It’s evident that Dante hopes to change the narrative of contemporary hip-hop, to make it more personal and true. But in the words of the great Gil Scott-Heron, “The revolution will not be televised”, but that won’t stop him from trying.
