The pair of Chicago artists recently made this beautiful jazz and rap lovechild. Peter CottonTale produced this beautiful track.

Two of Chicago’s purest musical acts combined for a perfect blend of rap and neo-soul jazz. The O’My’s vocalist Maceo Haymes explores the aftermath of a relationship, and the inevitable woe associated with losing a past love to time. Marceo’s vocals gently float over the track of drums, glowing guitar riffs, gentle cymbals, and bursts of trumpet courtesy of the lovely Nico Segal.

Saba’s verse fell perfectly over the jazzy instrumental, and the Chicago rapper also laments over his own lost loves, and the painful reminders that bring about memories of passion that appear as everyday sights to the average person. He does this pondering with the memorable line, “Reflections of a smile, that I forgot about, then I throw in the towel.” I loved this track, and I hope Saba and The O’My’s continue this pattern of cross-genre collaboration. This song is a perfect expression of sorrow and lost-love.
