Years, created by Bartholomäus Traubeck, features seven wooden records cut from the wood of different trees including Oak, Maple, Walnut, and Beech. In the video below, the rings of an Ash tree, tree ring data, are being read by Traubeck’s unique Playstation Eye Camera. The ring data is read and then converted into music data via Ableton Live. I always find it crazy when people take complex organic… stuff and convert it into complex mathematical… stuff like data and music. It makes you think of the possibility of them being one and the same.
