Backpack Rap has a weird connotation in 2019. Known as the more lyrical subsection of Hip-Hop, for some reason, the kids of this generation have deemed bars whack, for whatever reason. Luckily for us, Las Vegas natives G. Reed and Wave MMLZ are wary of any Kanye advice in 2019, as they connect for their dense new EP, THE BASICS.
At 5-tracks, the EP is without a doubt an appetizer of sorts. Featuring Reed handling most of the vocal duties, and Wave taking a step back to play Dr. Frankenstein behind the boards, THE BASICS serves as the dusty, grimy and disgusting kind of Hip-Hop that we’ve been missing. With Reed delivering bars that will make your face clench up like you just smelled some gas, and Wave producing at a prolific rate, the EP is definitely one to press play on.
