While it may seem that the rap game has pitted TDE and Dreamville against each other in a battle for ultimate label supremacy and relevancy, it’s good to see competitors tip their respective caps to one another. TDE’s latest signee REASON is one of the most thought-provoking emcees to emerge all year.

His debut tape There You Have It combines the powerful trap narratives with layered symphonic production that shine in cohesive unison. One of the standout tracks, “Colored Dreams / Killers Pt. 2” is a continuation of a previously released J. Cole track named “Killers”, the original references a young male going through excessive troubles, but the story remained unfinished until Reason stepped in to write the sequel we didn’t know we needed.
