One thing that’s for sure, since I was a child, I’ve always been on the side of producers in the age-old battle between beat-makers and vocalists. So whenever producers drop their own albums, where they flex their muscles and bring together an all-star roster of talent to help make it happen—I’m always going to listen. So when I was put on to Queens producer, FK47 and his new EP, Long Time Coming, I knew it was time to do my homework.

Off-top, with features like Rich The Kid and New York City trap-crooner, Flee, you’d expect for this to be a lean-filled, hazy affair full of contemporary cliches. Instead, the production that FK47 provides is refreshing, relying on funky synths, groovy bass lines and some incredible performances from the aforementioned features, as well as Yohannes, who steals the show with his three records, highlighted by my favorite track on the album, “What You Want”.

Listen to FK47’s new project below and support the producers before they go on strike… trust me, it happens.
