MTV usually botches opportunities like this to show why they once ruled the music world, but this was pretty good. It’s crazy to think at one time Atlanta wasn’t a hip-hop powerhouse boasting a list of a lot of the game’s most loved artists. Outkast did that. Stankonia exposed an entire country to Andre 3000 and Big Boi’s brand of funk while also paving the way for an entire generation of artists to feel comfortable being weird. If you haven’t listened to Stankonia in a while, take the 15th anniversary as an opportunity to reflect.
