Elevator-favorite Mike Floss is a special kind of artist. He burst onto the scene two years ago with his viral single “Dopeboy Dreaming” chronicling his desire to have the same money that the hustlers did in high school and has not let up since. Mike’s music is distinctly true to his hometown of Nashville. Motifs like Jack Daniels, public school, the Titans, and embracing his blackness are prominent throughout his records and are all distinctly native to Nashville. His music has also had distinctly political overtones with anti-gun anthems “Take Yours” and “Firepower,” a beautiful piece of prose pondering about our gun epidemic directly following Nashville’s most recent mass shooting.

However, “Background Check,” isn’t nearly as serious. Teaming up with Atlanta’s Jace and Floss’ frequent collaborator Ducko McFli is the feel-good anthem to carry you into autumn. The trio meshes together perfectly, and Mike Floss shines on the magnetic hook. This song was part of Jace, McFli, and Floss new three track EP “3 Piece,” available on all streaming platforms.
