What’s better than acoustic guitar and autotune? Nothing.

Lately, there has been an unprecedented amount of crossover between rap and other genres. Rappers are making satirical country songs, Playboi Carti is taking a punk band on his national tour, rappers perform their songs alongside ukulele artists on Instagram, and numerous rappers are beginning to mix autotune with acoustic instrumentals. Rap has often been mixed alongside other genres, and the very nature of “sampling” in rap music leads it to naturally provide for crossover with different genres and sounds.

Another example of these astonishing genre blenders is Nashville up-and-comer bukuSteez‘s new collaboration with Nashville indie rock band, The High Tides. This unexpected pair did not disappoint. Buku’s usual masterfully melodic vocals formed a perfect harmony with backup vocalist Moriah Williams and was the ideal counterpart to the soft guitar instrumental. Hopefully this duo will continue their collaborative efforts and drop some more experimental stylistic mash-ups.
