Yung Leekk - LOVEisLUST

If YungLeekk's not on your radar it's time to officially put him there. He's been on ours ever since submitting his growing single Rage2 from his previous EP. But just last Friday he gave us his debut Mixtape LOVEisLust, containing 10 tracks. I chatted with Leekk via tex and he broke down the meaning or philosophy behind each song on the project.

"The tape is a dive into the emotions I have felt through my teenage years dealing with love and life in general. Each song showcases an emotion or feeling I might feel on a daily basis.

'Anti' is a song I hold close to me because that is exactly how I feel a lot, and it sucks. The feeling of not being able to trust my bro or the girl I may love, It's sad to think about but helps me tap into how good the music can be.

Songs like '9ine' and 'Geeked' are about how I feel on top of the world, high on life even. When I make songs like that and get experimental, it's like nobody can stop me from leveling up more and more. I'm in my element.

'Dead Inside' is more on the serious side and I talk about a mental state I was in not too long ago and how bad depression can really get. Sadly a friend of mine passed recently and that song is solely dedicated to him. Love you Tom.

'Yea Yeaa' is a song about a toxic relationship that you realize must come to an end, you really got to listen to the words.

'Ramona' is by far one of my favorite songs I have made so far, and yes she is a real person. Although I have released EPs in the past, this tape is what I really want to be considered my start. I promise I'm working every day and it's only up from here."

You don't often get such an honest and open breakdown from artists on their projects. But Leekk is one that's different. And he's making it known he's here to stay. Hit play on this emotional rollercoaster LOVEisLUST below.
