Charlotte’s Mavi continues to shine after his impactful and very memorable short-film for his track “Willpower” that dropped just recently. The first track included in the newest video is for his track “Sankofa” that features a soul sample as the backbone of the instrumental that repeats over and over throughout the song, continuing this new convention that many rappers have begun to pioneer in the past two years. His rapping on this track is almost a tad sleepy, delivering his lines in a laid back manner, while the sample drowns out and distorts his vocals.

The latter track featured in this video is more slow-burning in comparison. Mavi also performs very well on this track, opening up about his personal life and problems with his own creative process that stems from these. Keep an eye on Mavi as he continues to release music, and I would not be surprised at all if Mavi stands at the forefront of the new underground rap movement.
