There are many artists & musicians these days who know how to really capture the true essence behind whatever it is they might have experienced or are currently experiencing. Whatever that situation may be, it takes a true visionary to be able to communicate that through total openness. Imagine stripping yourself of all of the personal shields you’ve placed around yourself by letting pain, confusion, joy & fear pour out without fear of judgment.
Born in Montreal & raised in New Jersey, Love Mansuy is the total embodiment of what it means to be a “raw artist”. His latest debut EP Of Age serves as a window into the realities of creating & building a family while also revealing the inner struggles that he faces himself. The 8-track project also takes us on a walk through Mansuy’s personal journey of re-examining many key aspects of his life such as fatherhood, his lifestyle along with what spirituality might look like for him. For those out there who have families of their own, it’s only imaginable how much weight & pressure falls on the governing shoulders of that structure. Throughout the highs & lows in beginning such a heavy chapter of one’s life, how can one know how to navigate all while fighting their own internal battles?
Already aware of his innate artistic nature, it wasn’t until watching the short film for Of Age directed by his childhood friend, Quran Spuires, for me to truly grasp how much innovation & divine alchemy taking place. Tastefully shot & executed, Mansuy is shown going through each phase of this new chapter. The emotion that bleeds from each track & its paired scene withholds an intensity that needs preparing for.
