Nothing helps you start the week like the right sounds. Though I may lean toward R&B, I’m always up for an adrenaline-inducing cut to get my blood pumping and head knocking. DMV native Lane Brodie dropped by with new single “Crank,” surely aptly named.
Heavy bass, aggressive drums and video-game like chimes provide the foundation for the former West Virginia University hooper to sprint the entirety of the court. The DMV influence is clear, in both lingo and flow. Having released a project by the name of Pop Slang last year, it’s evident Brodie’s aim here is to provide a sound everyone can enjoy, though his subject matter may not resonate with all listeners.
Is it corny to say the artist is forging his own lane, given that’s his first name? Welp, I did it. “Crank” is two minute, 40-second speeding bullet. Check it out below, you might enjoy the ride.
