Canadian songstress Ioanna is masterfully commanding the untamed and colossal electropop and R&B sonic vibrations embedded in her latest “Did To Me” single much like The Weeknd managed to do with his multi-platinum After Hours album.

Aiming for a fresh-faced take on the resurging 80’s era disco sound fueled by synthpop, Ioanna tackles trauma from her past relationships on “Did To Me.”

In an exclusive statement share with Elevator, Ioanna explains how allowing herself to become vulnerable during the studio session she recorded help give the track its edgy energy.

“‘Did To Me’ is about the outcome and end result of a relationship situation,’ Ioanna said. “The lyrics hit a little harder and definitely a little closer to home. It’s a little scary not only as an artist, but just as an individual to share a little piece of your truth, and I have many gems of truth in this one. This session was such a vibe, and although it made me feel a little vulnerable, it was really empowering to write and get it off my chest."

In addition to “Did To Me” Ioanna has been taking charge of her potential in 2021 by delivering a blitzing duo of dynamic releases, with her recent Yung Tory-assisted “Miss Me” banger taking over airwaves in her native Toronto.

Ioanna also joined forces with “Sweeter Man” creator Ramriddlz for her tender epic “Tempted To Touch” earlier this year, as well.
