I have a love/hate relationship with free trials is the real issue I think. I’m consistently kicking myself for being such an idiot just a short 30 days ago, 90 days in Apple’s case. It’s $9.99/month with a 1-month free trial. Great, so I obviously will try it, and obviously will pay for at least two months of it. Sick Google, thanks. Why? For What? For giving me ad-free viewing on my favorite TV channel ever, YouTube. For letting me download videos for offline viewing. And for the love of God finally, letting the audio continue to play when you leave the YouTube app on your phone to go do anything else. For those things, I deem you worthy of my free-trial-but-never-cancel-it-until-i-lose-my-debit-card-and-have-to-get-a-new-one-then-you-guys-are-fucked-ship. I would be way more comfortable at $5/month for what the perks are, or at least include access to some sort of other content for the $10/month like I don’t know, all those movies and TV shows that are on YouTube for purchase?
Also, more importantly, Google better be giving this money to the content creators for real because they’ve been getting off clean since the jump. Get right with the people that make the platform what it is. Thank you for the infrastructure, but the people make it work.
PS – C’mon, nobody at Google thought people would think of the porn site when they heard “Red” and “Tube” together? Be more of a nerd Google, you can’t.
