Just over a year ago, Gucci Mane was released from a three-year jail sentence and came out swingin’. Following the release of eight full-length projects atop a handful of guest appearances and a nationwide tour, Guwop recently teamed up with fellow Atlanta icon Metro Boomin’ to deliver a 12-track album in the form of “Drop Top Wop.”
Filled with bangers like the Offset assisted “Met Gala,” the project has been causing a stir all weekend and today we finally get more insight from Gucci. The Trap God sat down with Zane Lowe for a short-but-sweet interview about the project and also spilt the beans on his forthcoming wedding plans. Read and listen to the interview below.
What is it about Metro that made you want to dig deep and fall on this?
I’m proud of Metro, to be honest. It’s almost on the same thing with Mike Will. Metro used to always come by my studio when he was still going to school, when he was just 18/19-years-old. A lot of times he’d come to the studio and I’d kick it with him, but I’d never rap on his beats. He’d be like, ‘Gucci, why you never rap on my beats?!’ To see what he’s doing now, every time he pull something up it make me wanna rap, it make me wanna record. We did 12 songs in two days! The only reason we didn’t do more songs is because Metro fell asleep!
What can we expect for the rest of 2017?
I’m having my wedding on October the 17th. That’s a dream come true, I couldn’t wait to get outta prison and get married.
What kinda celebration we talkin’ about?
We tryna throw the biggest wedding of the year! Whatever my wife what, I wanna give it to her; and she wants a big wedding. So, you know, I’m just glad I’m fortunate enough to make it happen, I feel like she deserves it
Who you got lined up to DJ?
