Yet another protégé of Detroit-based independent outfit Deep Slit Records, Forreverbbyflex, is turning the summer up from his native Fort Wayne, Indiana with his vibey “Waking Up” single.
Produced by XANGANG beats, “Waking Up” finds the 20-year-old powering up lyrically over the hazily thunderous SoundCloud era emulating production.
Between his tricky cadences and organic flows, Forevebbyflex wins listeners over with his opening bars on the record as he raps, “I’m getting high right now/Just riding round' town/Smoking dope out the pound/Talk down and we gun’n you down/Feels like I been asleep the last two years/But, I’m waking up now.”
Foreverbbyflex has been hard at work all year, delivering his ForeverBByGoat mixtape earlier this year and applying pressure with visuals such as his recent “Case Closed” music video.
