Pulling from that golden age of the west coast

Maybe more than anywhere else in the country, west coast rap is able and encouraged to reach back to its origins regardless of the era. We're getting that again with that L.A. bounce from native Fenix Flexin who dropped his debut mixtape, Fenix Flexin Vol. 1 with some big features from Drakeo The Ruler, Rob Vicious, Bravo The Bag Chaser & more.

Born and raised in L.A., its apparent Fenix grew up with an ear to the locale's signature sound. From the first note on the first song, you're taken right back to the tropes that over time have given way to a truly regional sound. His allegiance to the area doesn't stop with a shared love for the sound but also in his ventures outside of rap. He recently announced his clothing line, Burnt Co, and sponsored a team of pro skaters from in and around Los Angeles.

Like a lot of rising artists in 2021, Fenix got his buzz started during the lull of the pandemic and has continued to craft a lane unto himself. With this project, he's both reaching back and looking forward in an effort to bring everyone along with him. Get into it below.
