With an angelically soft singing voice and an equally impressive propensity for rapping, Ebz the Artist is shaping up to be one of the breakout females in the coming year. “Surrounded” opens with her light vocals fluttering over the instrumental, but quickly moves into a much gentler rap verse, examining her personal life and decision making skills, but changes back into a much more gentle singing voice.

Around halfway through the track, she totally flips from a much more tame flow to exploding into an energy-laden verse that ends and quickly turns much more tender. At the tail end of the song, the beat disappears into an acapella refrain. I was thoroughly impressed with this work and have enjoyed the totality of Ebz’s catalog to this point.
