XXXTentacion is no stranger to controversy. The Florida native has found himself at the epicenter of countless scandals over the course of the past year, most recently due to an alleged stolen merch design.
On May 7th, graphic designer & Instagram user @WeHadNoIdea shared a portrait of the rapper that he created using digital oil pastels. Based on the photo from X’s famous Rolling Loud performance, the rapper was a fan of the piece and even shared his thoughts via the comment section, simply saying “THIS HARD.” According to @WeHadNoIdea, XXXTentacion followed up with a series of DM’s, ending with the rapper going ghost.
Things took an unexpected turn when the official ‘Revenge’ online store began selling a black hoodie with the pastel portrait printed on its’ front side (top right in image below). Screencaps provided to SPIN by the artist show him reaching out upon discovery, asking to be compensated for his work as money was clearly being made. After receiving no response, the official Revenge IG reached out and claimed that “Jah” (X’s legal name) had permission to use the design.

After receiving a series of harsh messages from @WeHadNoIdea, X finally responded with ‘take care of yourself.’ Allegedly, legal action is being taken towards this issue as it clearly couldn’t be resolved on its’ own.
See the screenshots below to get a first-hand look at how it all went down.
