Detroit has been producing a wide-ranging assortment of new talent over the last few years and there's apparently no end in sight as we get another introduction, this time with 21-year-old riser Sterl Gotti. Dropping off his video for the single, "Freedom" it's pretty quickly apparent he stands outside of what's considered in vogue.

On "Freedom" he delves into real-life storytelling of coming up in Detroit, utilizing a straightforward delivery that allows the message to come through uninterrupted. It's obvious he's speaking from what he knows, a rarity it seems in today's game. He's not chest-thumping, he's getting something off of it. 

“People ask me if I’m going through something,” he said. “But really I’m just putting more feeling into my music.”

I wasn't sure what to expect with this one, but Sterl is definitely someone to keep an eye on if he continues to channel this honest illustration of his surroundings on subsequent releases, one of which sounds like an album soon. Dive in for yourself below.
