In the beginning of 2017, David Shawty uploaded a song titled “Honda” onto the web and over the next year it snowballed into an undiscovered SoundCloud gem. As the 18 year-old rapper’s record is creeping up on half a million plays, today he has released the Garrison Keane directed visuals for his buzzing single.

While many take to Twitter to complain of the over-saturation of the iconic Mexikodro production sound, David Shawty makes the plugg beat his own. Over a thumping trap beat that would have made the cut on an early Playboi Carti tape he showcases his melodic flow that is undoubtedly a unique approach to this sound.

The young rapper’s hook is catchy, and his verse perfectly flows over the iconic 808’s that have been filling the home page of SoundCloud for the last few years. Watch the “Honda” video below.
