If you’re active on SoundCloud and into chill-soul instrumental beats like I am, the name about to be mentioned should most certainly ring a bell somewhere in your mind. U.K. based beatmaker & producer, cay caleb., is easily one of my favorite underground beatmakers. Since being introduced to his Space Gradients EP only a couple months back, tracks like “Leaving Earth Interlude”, “Flutterflies.” and “Spacetrain.” instantly called attention to themselves with their polished and complex composition. Caleb’s ability to fuse elements of multiple genres all while still staying true to the signature knocking rhythms that he presents in each track.
Dabbling between certain elements of hip-hop, funk & R&B, his ear for samples, meshed with the eclectic sound he already possesses, emphasizes the level of mastery he has attained when it comes to beat making as a whole. These observations, matched with his unique ear for sampling, has also allowed him to also draw the attention of major music labels such as Soulection, which is originally how he was brought into my musical realm. You can go listen to Soulection show #423 here to check out the featured segment the collective did with cay caleb. himself & K. Le Maestro, who is another very preeminent beat maker from London as well. This is music that is sure to adjust any mood that you’re in, whether that be getting you out of your seat to dance or just in chilling on a cold, rainy night.
