Blocboy JB has been on an inevitably fast ascent since his collaboration with Toronto superstar Drake on “Look Alive” and he has revealed an exuberant new single titled, “Mercedes” produced by, Dilip Venkatesh and Othello Houston. Blocboy’s newest song since his album, Simi, is an upbeat offering with rhythmic tempo changes from the Memphis artist. Blocboy comes on the track at the start questioning, “how you get the bag when your rollie outdated?” This one line echoes throughout the exciting instrumental as it both sets the theme of the song and lays the foundation as to how the chorus would play out.

The two-minute rapture is an ideal single to bounce back with after the album dropped an entire year ago. Blocboy comes with the assertion knowing he needs an empowering track to remind the industry he is still creating and adapting wisely. This is only a glimpse into Blocboy’s fashionably late entrance into the 2019 music scene as he should continue to release a slew of tracks leading into an innovative project in the foreseeable future.
