The release of “Black Panther” inspired countless public figures to rent out movie theaters for screening purposes. One of the many was Big Sean, as on Wednesday he took 1,000 kids from Detroit Public Schools on a field trip to watch the record-breaking flick.
In a post on Instagram, Sean recognized the lack of relevant movie theaters within the city saying, “There is no movie theatre in the city of Detroit that plays current movies. Its overdue for change!”
Pledging to make a difference, the Michigan-born rapper announced the opening of The Sean Anderson Theatre by Emagine Theatres. “I wanted to show the city and Detroit Public Schools that a kid from DPS that’s the same color as most of them can be a owner and a CEO too.”
