For years G.O.O.D. Music and it’s catalyst, Kanye West have signed and developed quality artists from Kid Cudi to Big Sean and more, but made a pretty surprising move earlier this year when they inked “Panda” revolutionary Desiigner.
The 18-year-old Brooklynite has since had his second-ever single reached No. 1 on the Billboard charts, as well as copious other accolades and certifications. While he’s had success, he was a surprising signing because he’s unlike most other artists on the G.O.O.D. roster; he’s young and wild, with energy bouncing off the walls, whereas Kanye, Pusha T and co. are mostly quiet, cerebral types. Desiigner’s controlled chaos brings a new dimension to the G.O.O.D. Music squad, and with his some of the best mentors you can have in music guiding him, he’s primed to have some long-lasting success.
The label has rarely signed people so close together, but it’s starting to become apparent that the YesJulz-managed 070Shake is the newest to sign to the family.
In a series of tweets, that I unfortunately can’t find, Steven Dingle of The Gloriam Group was talking about how some people believe YesJulz’ comeup was all because of what she looked like, further explaining how she’s a networking guru and overall great person, only to close with “y’all gonna be mad when you find out who she got her artist signed to,” or something to that effect. Well, that intrigued the fuck out of me, especially since I really respect his inside knowledge of and opinion on the music industry.
Fast forward to the last few weeks, and Shake’s name has been popping up more and more with G.O.O.D.
In a series of screenshots below (via the good people of Pigeons and Planes), you can see that Pusha has attached her name to G.O.O.D.-related posts a few times, even following her on the ever-exclusive Twitter for the label, which only follows those who are officially involved with them.
More than that, she was caught on stage with Desiigner and company when they crashed one of Julz’ 1amVibes parties, and looked right at home as the youngest sister of the G.O.O.D. Music family.
WHO can say that they dapped up and crowdsurfed @070shake and @LifeOfDesiigner at the same show#1amVibes pic.twitter.com/6v7oKNYv64

That makes two young, unique artists near the inception of their careers that are inked to G.O.O.D., officially solidifying the future of the label. With Pusha at the helm, it’s clear he’s got a precise direction he’s taking them in, and it looks like he’s not gun-shy when it comes to pulling the trigger on an artist he likes that’s gaining steam. Just as NFL teams draft their quarterback of the future, G.O.O.D. is building a dynasty for the coming years by signing a couple of upstart, yet promising teenage artists.
The average age of label’s current roster is 34, and obviously most of the horses in the stable aren’t actively dropping albums or even really have much left in the tank. Of course I’m not labeling the music Kanye and Pusha are putting out as trash, but let’s be honest—their best bars are behind them.
By bringing in relative hatchlings, they’re building a strong future through developing these talented, on-the-cusp artists early and giving them access to some of the premier, best producers and creatives in the game. At the times of their respective signings, neither artist had dropped more than a few singles, which leads me to believe G.O.O.D. is obviously up to something and knows something we don’t. I think they’re playing the game smarter than they ever have before, and I’m very excited to see what else they have up their sleeve.
