Congratulations are in order!

Warner Music Group is taking control of the industry piece by piece. Last month, they paid for the Instagram influencer account Daquan, which to the surprise of many, was run by someone who's not a POC despite their name and content. This week, they announced their purchase of respected music platform HipHopDX, who has been leading the blog era for quite some time.

A WMG spokesperson told Music Business World: “HipHopDX continues to be led by Founder & CEO Sharath Cherian and his talented team. A stand-alone editorial entity with journalistic independence, the news site is being given investment to help grow its presence in additional countries.”

Quite frankly, this is a big move for both HipHopDX and Warner Music Group. Blogs and other media publications as we know it are falling off the face of the Earth. To an extent, some don't do much for an artist as far as building a fan base or driving. Under this new deal, HipHopDX will surely be around for a long time. It worked with UPROXX so there's no doubt in my mind the same principles will carry over.
