It looks as if the demise of Tidal is inevitable.

Ever since its star-studded launch in 2016, Jay-Z‘s premiere streaming service Tidal has been taking L’s left and right. From having one of the lowest subscription counts among similar platforms, to allegedly inflating those already unimpressive numbers, the company keeps finding itself in hot water during one of the most pivotal periods in the streaming generation. Further complicating matters for the company, CEO Jeff Toig recently announced his departure following a 16 month stint. In a statement to Billboard, the company explained “As part of Tidal’s continued expansion this year we will be announcing a new CEO in the coming weeks. We wish Toig all the best in his future endeavors.”

Marking the third departure of a CEO in two years, it looks as if Tidal’s “expansion” is more of a downfall. With hardly any stability in the platform’s infrastructure and a constant decline in revenue, Hova’s gonna need to pull some big strings to fix the mess he’s created.

Tidal is expected to announce a new chief executive officer in the coming weeks and at this point, Jay’s only shot at boosting the platform’s relevance is by convincing Beyoncé to take on the available gig mid-pregnancy. Keep it locked on Elevator for more information regarding the peaceful transition of power.
