When it comes to the independent grind, there are few rappers that I respect more than Inland Empire native, Trizz. Despite having a cult-like fan base in So Cal, as well as the numbers and pedigree to back it up, some of the industry has chosen not to take notice. Never the one to be put in a corner, Fontana’s finest returns with his high-anticipated new album, The Basement.
At 10-songs, The Basement is neither too long nor too short and is packed to the bone with lyrical delights and head-knocking production. With features ranging from Audio Push to Rittz and more, Trizz also does a solid job at putting himself against worthy lyricists, only to end up shining and owning the track himself. In an era where somebody will ask you to change your verse because it might’ve been too good, Trizz welcomes all competition and seemingly came out a stronger rapper.
Standouts for this project include the previously released single, “Kill Zone”, the Roc$teady featured, “100” and perhaps the album’s best song — and maybe Trizz’s — “Aw Shit!,” a high-energy record that makes you want to either go hit somebody in the face or run around the block. Either way, enjoy the rush.
Take a listen to The Basement below and get on the bandwagon before it’s too late.
