Lil Gray is climbing the crowded ranks of DMV rap artists with effortless skill, and his new track “Something New” is truly one of the oddest and most enthralling tunes I have heard from that region in recent memory. The instrumental has a sweet little melody that sounds completely out of place on a trap beat, but between the perfect drums and Gray’s sing-y approach in his delivery, the track works and works well. I can easily see this getting stuck in my head for a frustrating amount of time. I am eager to see Lil Gray continue his ascension and I have no doubt that his creativity and charisma will take him far.
