One can never go wrong with some new R&B to help them get in tune with their emotions. After teasing his project, 404, for nearly the past month, JAHKOY gave us a handful of songs to help us do just that.
This new EP comes three years after his debut album, Foreign Water. Since then, the Canadian singer has released numerous singles on his SoundCloud, yet only one of them appears on 404. “Crazy Girl,” which released last July, is the last track.
I discovered the JAHKOY when I saw him open for Kehlani on her SweetSexySavage tour back in 2017. In my naïve years of attending concerts, he is one of the few opening acts I actually paid attention to and cared enough to further discover after the show was over.
For the most part, 404 is about the rollercoaster ride that is love. For a 9-track project, there’s a healthy mix of serenading as well as songs that might put you in your feelings. Oddly enough, I kind of recommend this EP for anyone who is trying to be/is going to be boo’d up this summer. Don’t ask why.
