There’s a rumor going around the industry that blogs are dead. While there’s a bit of truth layered in that hyperbole, it doesn’t tell the whole story. Social media is the number one discovery tool, we get that, but some publications are still responsible for some of the best commentary, and for discovering new talent. One of those publications is Daily Chiefers, a well-respected tastemaker blog who partners with Red Bull for a collaborative new mixtape, Making Movies Vol. 1.

Though DC is one of the most known sites on the market today and could’ve tapped in with bigger artists, they cleverly used this opportunity to mesh buzzing artists and producers with new upstarts alike, and it’s perfect. Featuring artists like JK The Reaper, A$AP Ant, Burger Man and more, Making Movies is a potent, aggressively charged 10-track project that never slows down. With production from some of the underground’s finest in Yung Icey, 10Fifty & Bixtel, the sonic theme of the project is definitely warfare, as the energy from track to track stays at 10, and 10 only.

Standouts from the project include, “Thou Shall Never Lack,” the BigChildSupport and Icey sermon about staying alert, “No Flex,” the Norman Perry solo that might have the best chance to be a hit and, “Isolate,” the track where JK The Reaper establishes his stamp on the project.
