Meet Ezale, he’s an unsigned Oakland rapper from Oakland, CA, with tiny braids. Last year he put out a song and video called “5 Minutes of Funktown.” True to its name, the song is a five minute medley of five different cassette era throw back beats. “Funktown” refers to a nickname for Oakland neighborhood Highland Park. He’s also the first thing to come out since the glory days of the Bay Area and Mac Dre that has a comparable level of authenticity, and a comparable level of thizzed out steeze. His music is fun and funny, while at the same time remaining gangster, and extremely entrenched in the local drug culture. From his style and mannerisms, to the sound of the music Ezale is a refreshing west coast sound breathing new life into a seemingly dead classic sound, by putting his own personality into the style of music which inspired him growing up and running the streets of his area. Rest in peace Mac Dre, guarantee if he were still living he would have been co-signed if not already worked with this dude. Check out his latest visual for his street single “Too High” below and make sure to dig around on youtube and check into some of his other jams. Below too high is an older video from E called “5 Minutes of Funktown” that shows a more goofy and versatile side of the rapper, the beat switches up multiple times throughout the record. Check out out “Too High” and if you like it keep on listening to more. Below the two videos we have posted up his mixtape “Drug Funnie“.
The music is coming from an equally funky and dope tape called “Drug Funnie”
