Don’t call her a queen. Call her a dictator.

What an ascent this act has had. On top of gracing our pages for her first two singles, Maryland’s REI AMI has won fans in Billie Eilish and FINNEAS, earned the (current) top spot on Spotify’s ‘Anti-Pop’ playlist, and earlier received “World Record” treatment from Apple’s Zane Lowe. That’s pretty fantastic for an independent artist, and a look into new single “DICTATOR” reveals how she’s arrived here.

As she’s done previously, REI has managed to fit in two songs here: a scathing rap banger, and a more bedroom-esque indie piece. The segue occurs at the 1:20 mark, and, while drastic, it works well. The tactic will surely rope in different kinds of audiences, and it’s pretty dope that they’ll (likely) be introduced to multiple sides of her sound. For now, though, listen to this below, and be ready for more from her.
