Issa deal.

It’s been a wild couple years for 21 Savage, and after a long and impressive run as an independent artist, the Atlanta trapper turned rapper has officially found a home.

In a recent interview with Rap Radar, 21 announced that he had officially signed to Epic Records. Boasting superstar acts like YG and Travis Scott, Epic seems like a very sensible fit for him, though his reasoning for signing is a bit more clean-cut than that. 21 actually cited that LA Reid was the reasoning behind him signing, “because he’s black.” 21 elaborated, “He’s probably the last black CEO. Why not? He’ll understand me before anyone else.”

With all the culture vulture-ing and tons of stories of old head moguls out of touch with the current state hip-hop capitalizing on youth and talent, I can’t really argue with his thinking.

A huge congrats to Epic, 21 and the rest of his team.
